Little is known about Helen Morrison’s private photography clients – general portraits, family portraits, weddings, local dignitaries – since few records are extant. Most of her clients were from North Shore communities, and there must have been a significant number of them to account for her personal resources.

The Morrison-Shearer Foundation’s collection includes only about 50 named clients, quite a few unidentified men and women, and many unidentified children.

Known newspaper clippings report a 1937 exhibition of Winnetka children (24 names mentioned); a 1938 exhibition of North Shore residents (24 names listed); a 1939 exhibition of Well Known Wilmette People (21 names listed); and a 1939 exhibition of North Shore residents (number not recorded). The Winnetka Historical Society has a collection of 48 men and women of that community, apparently taken in this same time period.

Other portraits are at the Newberry Library in Chicago.
